Fix:

To resolve this issue use the ’XERFileParser&Builder.xls diagnostics utility’ to determine if there are any missing ‘foreign key’ constraints.

See prim4145 - How to: Open an XER file in Excel to see all the data lined up with the column headings

  1. In this example the error occurred while processing the ‘Cleaning up assignments’ section indicating the error is with the resource assignments.

  2. Therefore check the Foreign Key check between the ‘TASK’ (i,e, activities) and ‘TASKRSRC’ (i.e. Resource assignments) tables as shown below:

  3. The ‘Diagnostics’ sheet will report any discrepancies.
    e.g.
    DIAGNOSTIC for: D:\assntprj\prob_project.xer
BEGIN DIAGNOSTIC – cross check FK
          cross check failed for: 77687
END DIAGNOSTIC – cross check FK

  4. This indicates there may be resource assignments for a missing task.

  5. Check the ‘TASK’ table to see if there is a row with the specified ID number.
In this example it would appear between these two rows:

  6. Therefore go back to the ‘TASKRSRC’ Excel sheet and delete the rows which reference this ‘missing’ activity:
e.g. Delete the highlighted rows as the second column references to non-existent ‘TASK’:

  7. After deleting any ‘foreign key’ mismatch data, generate a new XER file by using the ‘Build XER file’ function.
