Can Past Period Actuals be Imported from one Project Management database to another?
Status: Reviewed
Version(s): 5.0, 6.0, 6.1, 6.2

Problem: Can Past Period Actuals be Imported from one Project Management database to another?
Problem: Can Past Period Actuals be Exported to / Imported from Excel?
Problem: Can Past Period Actuals be Imported from P3 to Project Management?
Fix: Past Period Actuals can be imported if an XER of a Project includes Past Period Actual data.

Although the Export of Past Period Actual data is supported to Excel, Importing Past Period Actual data from Excel to Project Management version is not supported.  This issue is an existing Enhancement Request. It will be considered for a future release.

Fix: The import of Past Period Actual data from P3 to Project Management is not supported.

How the Past Period Actual data is handled upon Import, depends on how closely the Financial Periods in the source and destination databases match:

  • If the Financial Periods in the source and destination database match exactly, all Past Period Actual data will be imported correctly.

  • If the Financial Periods in the source and destination database differ, then none of the Past Period Actual data will be imported.

  • If there are no Financial Periods defined in the destination database, then none of the Past Period Actual data will be imported.
Fix: Past Period Actual data is not Imported with the Project (XER) when Updating or Adding into an Existing Project.  See the following solution:

Solution ID: prim38440 “Past Period Actuals are not Imported when the Import Action is Update Existing Project or Add Into Existing Project.”
